The column that says there is one more Memorial Day service to go and that is at World War II monument in front of Broad Street School where Kristi Birtch’s third-grade class will honor the fallen whose names are on the monument with a roll call, patriotic poems, songs, special guests, and the lateWorld War II hero Warren Robinson will live again on the day in his honor — and it all starts at 12:30 p.m., and it’s OK if you can’t make it because Warren and his brother Frank will be there.

We still can’t understand why Outback opens for lunch, but gets backed up long before the rest of the wait staff arrives at 4 p.m.
The wait was 20 minutes at 3 p.m.
They did have room at the bar, but one bartender was trying to do it all. How can a major chain operate like that, although our favorite waiter/manager at the Deptford eatery is getting promoted tomorrow.
Good ol’ Wendy’s full-size apple pecan chicken salad is still the best bang for your buck, at under $7.
Who was Goliath’s trainer?
A Rosenhayn resident was livid today when she rode through Bridgeton City Park and saw none of the tattered flags had been replaced on the war monuments.
So it probably won’t do any good to reveal that the base of the WWII monument in front of Broad Street School is eroding to the point that the box buried under the monument is beginning to crack and has to be replaced.
You notice those things when your class plants flowers there twice a year.
We tried to notify the VFW, but didn’t connect on Facebook. But we bet Sam Feinstein and Karen Cox, along with Reva Christian, can make sure the repairs are made in a timely manner.
Do you wonder what’s in that box?
Wouldn’t it be worth a ceremony to unearth and replace it?
“On this Memorial Day, let us remember and thank those who have and are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms and safety. Many thanks to our veterans, active duty military members, and their families for they too bear the cross for their loved ones’ valor. Let us protect them and give them the deference they deserve. Thank you for your service!”

All this Washington bullcrap, and not enough room for some real news?
“14 Years Drug-Free Today!
“He’s a “Prison-Shaking Savior!”
— Michael DeLeon,
The ones coming out of drug abuse, the recovering addicts, make the best teachers. And helping others keeps them off the drugs.
It doesn’t get more real than this …
In 2006, Michael Mickey Williams Jr. took me to a jewelry store in AC. The jeweler came out with a ring and said, ‘Try it on.’
“I thought it was BEAUTIFUL. Mickey had been working odd jobs here and there and taking $ to the jeweler for this ring until he paid it off!! U may say big deal, but what u don’t know is he was doing this while struggling with addiction!
“2008, in the heat of addiction, he took my ring and sold it to satisfy that crave! I was HURT beyond words. Addiction HURTS, DESTROYS, KILLS!!\ But God changed all of that and RESTORATION began.
“2015, I was given a beautiful card. Inside was a promise and a pic of a ring. The price on the ring was, so I was more in love with the card and the thought, that I locked it away in my case.
“Then, yesterday, my hubby takes me to the mall and stops at the jewelers and says, ‘Let me show u this ring I like.’; I’m like, OK, but let me look at the ones I like.
“To my surprise, the jeweler hands me a ring and says, ‘THIS IS YOURS- — the EXACT ring in the pic from years prior and he gave it to me the EXACT way as before! I’m still floating! I never expected to get that ring, but he never gave up on getting it!
“EVERYTHING the devil stole, I want back, even my cherished memories! Let’s Get it Mickey! ALL of our stuff!! Amen!”
Lernell Apple Williams,
At the height of his addiction, he climbed up on Lernell’s roof with a medical boot on his foot to get into her house. He needed help that badly.
And he’s been helping others on a shoestring for years, finally hooking on with First Step.
But, know this: He could have not done it without Lernell!
YOU CAN BOOK IT: The police can’t fix the epidemic and the government can’t stop the scourge, so who does that leave, Pilgrim?
